Asher Coker

Podcast Producer / Editor

Asher is a musician and audio producer from Knoxville, TN, who currently lives in the Nashville area - but the distance hasn’t stopped his love of all things craft beer and Knox Brew! When he’s not editing podcasts, teaching music lessons through his company CHW Studios, or recording as a session drummer, you may find him playing shows around Knoxville and all over the southeast…he and Zack have even played in a couple bands together! While Nashville is “cool and all,” Asher dearly misses his hometown of Knoxville: the place where he had his first Mich Ultra, then dipped his toes into a Sweetwater IPA, and later developed a taste for really any flavor of craft beer he could get his hands on.

Candace “Ace” Preston

Co-Host / Producer / Writer

Candace “Ace” Preston hails from Green Bay, WI (yes, a Cheese Head). An avid writer and self proclaimed nerd, Ace originally grew up wanting to be either a Broadcast Journalist or an FBI Criminal Profiler. An unexpected, whirlwind romance with beer led to nearly a decade in the industry, from packaging and sales to serving and assisting in brewing operations. Of all of the jobs worked in the beer industry, being the weekend tour guide for Hinterland Brewing Company in Green Bay was her favorite because it married a love of storytelling, beer, and public speaking. A leap of faith and a move to Knoxville sight unseen meant that the love affair with beer could continue, with nearly 3 years at Abridged Beer Company & their sister entity, The Oak Room. Ace hit her stride as Assistant GM and Guide at Knox Brew Tours, Writer & Social Media Maven at Knox Brew Stories, and Co-Host at Knox Brew Radio, where Ace’s passion for spreading the gospel of craft beer is realized across multiple mediums. Ace is head over heels in love with Knoxville and never passes up an opportunity to gush about her newfound hometown!

Gregory Headrick

Podcaster / Knoxville Beer Mayor

Gregory is a lifelong Tennessee resident and longtime cerevisaphile. As an avid traveler, he always seeks out local craft breweries at every destination, excited to try the liquid art produced at each city.

After retirement five years ago, Gregory devoted more resources to his love for craft beer, spending his additional time visiting all the local breweries regularly, while sharing his experiences on social media. Two years later, Gregory was presented with a certificate proclaiming him Beer Mayor of Knoxville, endorsed by every Knoxville craft brewery, one of the highlights of his life. Gregory routinely proclaims an attitude of gratitude and love for all the wonderful people he has had the pleasure of meeting while drinking local craft beer and cherishes the opportunity to contribute to Knox Brew Stories through podcast interviews with craft beer brewers and lovers.

Kevin “Stryker” Summitt

Radio Producer / Editor / Writer

Stryker (his mama calls him Kevin), was born the only son of poor dirt farmers from rural Tennessee. At the tender age of six, his parents gave him a toy turntable with a built in microphone so he could entertain himself while listening to music, the firm foundation of a budding radio career. In his late teens, he discovered beer. In 1994 he briefly managed Spicy’s on the Strip, home of the “Around The World Beer Club”, where he drank over $400 worth of domestic and import beer and earned a t-shirt and his name on a plaque, both of which have since been lost to time. Stryker has worked for nearly every radio station in Knoxville over a 30 year span. Fast forward to June 2016 when he met Zack Roskop, Knoxville’s foremost ambassador of local beer. Radio and Beer have always gone together like chocolate and peanut butter, and like H.B. Reese, Zack and Stryker did it unlike anyone who came before. In the years since, they have innovated many ways to pair beer with radio. These days you can catch Stryker at Knox Brew Hub Mondays at 6pm enjoying whatever new arrivals The Hub is serving up. Cheers!

M. Thomas

Blog Contributor

M is a writer, poet, translator, and an amateur of all things beer and brewing. Often working beside a pint in a local taproom (or a pour over in a nearby coffee shop, something else that Knoxville brews well), this East Tennessee transplant from Chicago has found a welcoming community in the Knoxville craft beer scene. Taking inspiration from the people and processes that make beer happen and the endless variations of flavor that result, M celebrates beer, culture, and creativity in writing about the local brewing community, as well as in homebrewing that spans ancestral German traditions, a francophile's love of saisons, and the Tennessee terroir of foraged ingredients.
